Our mission is to be the best general merchandise retailer in America, serving smaller, hometown communities. We strive every day to achieve that goal with our work ethic, quality selection of goods, competitive prices, and friendly service of bygone days. We owe much of our success to three important members of the ALCO team: our associates, our vendor partners, and our shareholders.

Our team helps us to meet our goals every day by listening to our customers and responding to their needs in our stores. Our vendor partners supply the quality goods at the affordable prices which are the keystone for our success.

We would like to say “thank you” to all of those associates, vendor partners, and shareholders who have helped us grow over the past 100 years. No matter how big we grow, we will stay committed to our basic Midwestern beliefs: hard work, family values, honesty, steady growth, and dedication to our customers.

The future for Duckwall-ALCO stores is very positive. Few retailers have been in business for 100 years or more. We have been very successful in our market, and will continue to be, into the next century.

We have been very fortunate to have excellent associates, vendor partners, and shareholders to help us grow over the years. We have been able to prosper by constantly evolving, while sticking with our fundamental concept of quality, service and price. Taking care of our customers will ensure our success into the next 100 years, and beyond.
